Kyudo, Japanese archery
Sport of the Badass.
Man, if PE was like this in Highschool then I would have actually participated instead of conveniently “forgetting” my uniform every week.
Kyudo isn’t included in PE. It’s a club activity, which means you need 100% training and dedication (which the Japanese are very good at) and to stay for hours after and possibly arrive hours before school.
Japanese PE is just as tedious as Australian PE, but the sports carnivals are far more fun. Think novelties only. Tug of war, three legged races, piggy back wars, etc.
All true, but considering my high school didn’t have ANY extracurricular clubs that weren’t footy/netball (unless you count Duke of Edinburgh) archery, in comparison, is pretty damn badass.
Our sports carnivals were
Hell.
/suppresses traumatic memories
W-well my school had archery in its PE curriculum before OH&S stepped in and said projectiles were a no-go.
I always assumed that like. If you wanted to do something like archery as an extracurricular you did it in your own time /shurg. That’s why Aussie kids get to go home at 3 and Japanese kids are still there at 7;30.
